KARIBU TALKS

EXPAND YOUR VISION OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ELDERLY AND TO GET AGED
The course aims to inform, educate and raise awareness about a type of discrimination widely practiced in our society: prejudice against the elderly.
During its 5 modules, basic and fundamental concepts about the aging process will be explored, how ageism is practiced individually and structurally, what has been done about it so far and how together we are able to combat it.
The content is brilliantly presented by Rebeca Caldeira, graduated in Gerontology from the Federal University of São Carlos and with extensive experience in the area. Rebeca has lived in Barcelona for the last few years, where she worked in team management, and is currently the coordinator of Karibu group expeditions.

RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION:
UNDERSTANDING AND COMBATING THE MARKS OF PREJUDICE IN LANGUAGE
Our language is a powerful communication tool that influences the social interactions we have. Because it is alive and in constant transformation, it is extremely important that we are always aware of the new changes it presents, aiming to not be prejudiced when reproducing unconscious expressions and words.
Fabrisa Leite is a language teacher and, through this course, she will teach you how to communicate better, in a respectful and inclusive way. This can be decisive for better social relationships and for all areas of your personal and professional life.

Immerse yourself in the world of people with disabilities and avoid ableism
Did you know that calling someone distracted "autistic" or naive "retarded" is characterized as ableism? Ableism is discrimination against people with disabilities and is commonly seen when the absence of any disability is considered normal and people with disabilities are understood as exceptions and with something to be overcome or corrected.
Understand through this important course how we should rethink our language and our daily attitudes to avoid ableism and, more than that, be responsible for developing inclusive measures for this niche of people in our society.
Aline Giuliani is the mentor of this content, based on her long experience and fight for the cause. She founded a clinic to support children with disabilities in her city and published a children's book on the subject. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about such important content!
